Summary
I'm a journalist with experience in reporting, editing, photography and video and audio production. As The Spokesman-Review's D.C. correspondent, I've covered the nation's capital and the federal government's impact on the Inland Northwest since 2020. My work has been recognized with awards from the National Press Foundation, the Northwest chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and the National Press Club.

Federal government reporter, The Spokesman-Review
Washington, D.C., May 2020 – present
  • Cover the impact of the White House, Congress and the rest of the federal government on the Northwest as the region’s only D.C.-based reporter.
  • Balance breaking news stories with in-depth explainers and investigations.
  • Shoot photos at the Capitol and at events in the D.C. area.

Investigative Reporting Workshop fellow, Frontline on PBS
Washington, D.C., September 2019 – March 2020
  • Contributed reporting, editing and production assistance to Plastic Wars, a Frontline documentary in collaboration with NPR.
  • Reported with the aid of government records, international shipping data and archival footage to show how the plastics industry used recycling to sell more plastic.
  • Assisted with shooting interviews and editing footage in Avid Media Composer.

Intern and part-time producer, 1A from WAMU and NPR
Washington, D.C., June – December 2019
  • Edited more than 20 episodes of the 1A podcast.
  • Contributed to 1A's live coverage of Bob Mueller's congressional testimony in July 2019.
  • Produced shows on immigrant workers, how the media covers rural America and a special, three-part series of shows on key Supreme Court cases that have helped define the First Amendment.

  • Wrote feature stories on Liberian immigrants in Minnesota and street vendors in D.C.
  • Covered a historic eight-way tie at the 2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee.
